John Steinbeck Adventure 2017
To get the new year off to a great start, The Hobart Shakespeareans spent a week on a California Adventure.
The students read five novels by Steinbeck, including The Pearl, Of Mice and Men, Cannery Row, Travels with Charley, and The Grapes of Wrath. Individually, the kids read Cup of Gold, Tortilla Flat, Once There Was A War, and East of Eden.

Having watched Citizen Kane, the group toured Hearst Castle. At the National Steinbeck Center, the docents were astonished by the knowledge and decorum of the kids. Cannery Row, Doc's Lab, the 17-Mile Drive, and Channel Islands National Park were all stops along the way as the Hobart Shakespeareans began 2017.
